Our Commitment

MMPC Children's Ministry is committed to participate in growing God's kingdom beginning with the children of our church and our community.  One expression of this commitment is through our Mother's Day Out Program.  Our mission is to provide a warm, loving environment devoted to each child's spriitual, emotional, and cognitive development through age appropriate, Christ centered activites.

Overview

MMPC Mother's Day Out is a once or twice a week child development program offered in four age specific classrooms.  Our infant class offers a caring, open environment for infants to explore and socialize.  Our Toddler 1, Toddler 2, and Preschool classes provide fun and social opportunities for children to engage in developmentaly appropriate activities that reflect our Christian based curriculum.  Children must be potty trained for our Preschool class only.

Our Curriculum

MMPC Mother's Day Out uses the Christian centered A Beka program for our curriculum.  A Beka focuses on language development, listening skills, simple counting and number concepts, music, and arts and crafts.  Children will be taught Christian hymns, Bible lessons, and memory verses.  In addition, our program will supplement A Beka with the HighReach learning curriculum.  HighReach Learning curriculum is based on knowledge of theory and research in early childhood education, coupled with an understanding of valued best practices.  The curriculum incorporates experiences that permit learning through guided play and active discovery.

Infants will feel secure to play in a safe, loving, and nurturing environment.  They will build self-confidence as they learn to master each new stage of their development with encouraging help from caring teachers.

Toddlers will balance between learning centers, individual instruction, group time, and teacher directed activities.  The curriculum design recognizes that child learn best through active participation. (www.abeka.com) (www.highreachlearning.com)

Happy New Year and welcome back!  We are refreshed and ready for 2012!  January is going to be lots of fun!  Each teacher has some great activities planned for their classes!  Please remember to send your child in weather appropriate clothing.  We will try to go outside every day.  Physical exercise is a very important part of a child’s total development.  We will return to the Albany Sports Center for another field trip on, Monday, January 16.  I would like to inform you early that MDO will be closed on Friday, February 3rd.  The teachers will be attending the Southern Early Childhood Conference in San Antonio.  Please mark your calendars and plan accordingly.  We will be learning new strategies and skills that will further help with your child’s development.  Again, thank you for sharing your children with us!  We are truly blessed!

Happy New Year!  I hope you all had a wonderful and blessed holiday season!  This month we will be starting a new unit in Bible time as well as in our Bright Baby learning.  In Bible time we will be starting the unit Little Voices Praise Thee.  In our Bright Baby learning we will be moving to the I Can curriculum where we will be exploring all of the things that our babies can do!   The past few months have brought so many exciting changes and learning experiences and I look forward to seeing where the next few months will take us!

 Toddler 1

I hope these past few weeks have been such a wonderful and special time with your families and friends celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.  Here in the Toddler 1 class we are getting back to our normal routines and enjoying the gifts your child brings to us each Monday and Friday!  We are beginning a new Bible curriculum called Little Voices Praise Him.  I can’t wait to share and watch them individually create and grow closer to the one who made them each unique and wonderful.  Have a great and blessed month and we appreciate you sending your child to us and making MDO such a special family!

Toddler 2

Brr!  Winter is here!  We hope you enjoyed your holiday.  We are excited to get back to learning and playing!  In Bible we will hear the stories:  Kings worship Jesus, Jesus’ Boyhood, Following Jesus, and The Woman at the Well.  We will continue to review shapes and colors as we introduce the numbers 1-4.  We will explore winter by learning the poem Five Little Snowflakes and experimenting with ice and how it melts  We plan to make hot chocolate, play in the “snow” (shaving cream) and have a “snowball” fight (with cotton balls)!  We also have many activities planned to explore our 5 senses.  Stay warm and God bless!

Preschool

We hope everyone had a very blessed and Merry Christmas!  January is here and the preschool class has a lot of exciting things planned.  Our first Bible verse is from 1 John 3:23 “Love one another.”  We will review this verse at Bible time in class.  Please fell free to work on it at home also.  We will be learning new songs that follow along our Bible stories.  Our curriculum this month is “Terrific Tools”.  Experience with tools is a big part of children’s learning.  Anything can be a tool.  An exploration of popular tools will show how they can be handy anywhere in school or at home, inside or outside.  We will also discover some other things they would not think are tools like minds, hands, and voices.  As always, thank you for sharing your children with us at MMPC MDO!  We enjoy our time with them!
